1.B.74 The Outer Membrane Beta Barrel L32 Protein (OmpL32) Family 

Bacterial protein methylation is a widespread post-translational modification that is required for virulence in many pathogenic bacteria. Methylation of outer-membrane proteins modulates the effectiveness of the host immune response. A Leptospira interrogans surface-exposed β-barrel protein undergoes extensive and differential methylation of glutamic acid residues and was designated OmpL32. Expression of OmpL32 occurs during colonization of liver and kidney (Eshghi et al. 2012).  This protein is in the DUF4480 or Peptidase-M14NE family.
