In Solanum tuberosum (potato), inhibition of the orthologous AATP1 transporter resulted in greater resistance to the soft rot-causing pathogen, Erwinia carotovora subsp. atroseptica (Linke et al. 2002) and the pathogenic fungus, Alternaria solani (Conrath et al. 2003).
