High affinity glutathione uptake porter, Hgt1p or OPT2. TMS 9 plays a role in glutathione recognition (Thakur & Bachhawat et al., 2010; Thakur and Bachhawat 2015). Shows highest affinity for reduced glutathione but also transports oxidized glutathione and glutathione conjugates with lesser affinities (Zulkifli et al. 2016). Residues have been identified that are essential for H+-dependent glutathione uptake (Zulkifli and Bachhawat 2017).
