In addition to this precursor of lignin biosynthesis, this transporter may transport various phenolic compounds and glucosinolates (Alejandro et al. 2012).  Reported to be required for normal meiotic double strand DNA break formation resulting from interaction with SPO11-1 (De Muyt et al. 2007).
