in mitochondrial homeostasis, and control of oxidative phosphorylation
and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) maintenance (Martorano et al. 2019). It is a non-selective cation channel that modulates the membrane potential under normal conditions as well as conditions of oxidative stress (See TC# 1.A.126.1.5).
