OmpC general porin.  Expression of OmpC and OmpF is reciprocally regulated by the EnvZ/OmpR sensor kinase/response regulator system (Egger et al. 1997).  Mutants isolated from patients with MDR E. coli, resistant to several antibiotics, showed decreased permeability to these antibiotics (Lou et al. 2011). The diffusion route of the fluoroquinolone, enrofloxacin, through the OmpC porin has been reported (Prajapati et al. 2018). Transports azithromycin (Luo et al. 2024).
