2.A.29.23.8
Calcium-binding mitochondrial carrier protein SCaMC-1 (Mitochondrial ATP-Mg/Pi carrier protein 1; Mitochondrial Ca2+-dependent solute carrier protein 1; Small calcium-binding mitochondrial carrier protein 1; Solute carrier family 25 member 24).  The crystal structure of the N-terminal Ca2+-binding domain has been determined and shown to undergo a large conformational change when Ca2+ binds (Yang et al. 2014). Fontaine progeroid syndrome (FPS, OMIM 612289) is a genetic disorder stemming from pathogenic variants in the SLC25A24 gene. It encompasses Gorlin-Chaudry-Moss syndrome and Fontaine-Farriaux syndrome (Pannier et al. 2024).
