Chloride (bromide; iodide) channel-2, CLC-2, CLC2, CLCN2; 94% identical to the rat orthologue, 2.A.49.2.6. Hyperpolarization activates CLC-2 mainly by driving intracellular anions into the channel pores.  Protonation by extracellular H+ plays a minor role in dislodging the glutamate gate (De Jesús-Pérez et al. 2016). The absence of ClC-2 results in less differentiated colonic crypts and increased tumorigenicity associated with colitis via dysregulation (Jin et al. 2018).
