2.A.50.3.1 Porcupine, a protein-serine O-palmitoleoyltransferase
that acts as a key regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway by mediating
the attachment of palmitoleate, a 16-carbon mono-unsaturated fatty acid
(C16:1), to Wnt proteins. Serine palmitoleylation of WNT proteins is
required for efficient binding to frizzled receptors (Caricasole et al. 2002; Coombs et al. 2010; Gao and Hannoush 2014). It also regulates the AMPA/TARP complex in a TARP-dependent manner (Kato and Witkin 2018).
