of neuroligin-1 leads to deficient synaptic plasticity and reduced
excitation but normal granule cell output, but the lack of neuroligin-2 and/or collybistin reduces inhibition, resulting in a shift towards excitation of the dentate circuitry (Jedlicka et al. 2018). Neuroligan-2 is a constituent of the GABAA receptor (TC# 1.A.9.5.2) (Tomita 2019). It might be a biomarker for the diagnosis of encephalitis (Xiong et al. 2021).
