8.A.248.  The Ras-related Rab GTPase (RrRG) Family

Rab GTPases play important roles in regulated many transport processes.  These include transport between the golgi, endoplasmic reticulum and vesicles of eukaryotic cells.  There are many RAB proteins which are annotated by number: Rab1a, Rab1b, Rab2a, Rab2b, Rab3a, Rab3b, Rab3c, Rab4a, Rab4b, Rab5a, Rab5b, Rab5c, etc. etc.  There are more than 50 of them in UniProt in humans alone.  Proteins in this family will be listed only for a few of these proteins here in TCDB.  They regulated interactions between the golgi, the ER, the organelles, and intracellular vesicles in addition to other functions, influencing the activities of several independent transport systems (Parray 2025).

This family belongs to the: GTPase, Type 1 .
