8.D: Mimetic Membranes for Solubilizing Integral Membrane Proteins

Amphipols, nanodiscs, bicelles, styrene-malic acid lipid particles and other lipid particles are examples of structures that allow diverse types of integral membrane proteins, including α-type and β-type transport proteins, to become water soluble in the absence of detergents.
