9.B.137 The Putative Cobalt Transporter (CbtC) Family
The putative cobalt transporter family CbtC includes proteins of about 230 aas with 5 TMSs. These proteins are encoded in operons that are subject to regulation by vitamin B12 (Rodionov et al., 2003). They are found in α- and γ-proteobacteria. Their functions are not established. However, homologues are constituents of 4 component heavy metal transporting ABC porters such as TC# 3.A.1.22.1.
