9.B.96 The PE-PGRS Protein (PE-PP) Family
The N-terminal PE domain is linked to the PGRS domain of variable lengths. These proteins vary in size between ~200 and 2000 aas and are glycine-rich throughout with multiple repeats. Apparent homologues are present in large numbers in mycobacteria, but they are also present in many other bacteria and eukaryotes. Many proteins in TCDB show Glycine-rich domains retrieved by TC-BLAST.
