8.A.253.  The TMEM45A (TMEM45A) Family

Human TMEM45A has been implicated in several disease states and several forms of cancer.  For example, TMEM45A is essential for hypoxia-induced chemoresistance in breast and liver cancer cells (Flamant et al. 2012), it is involved in renal fibrosis in rats by regulating the Jagged1/Notch pathway (Lan et al. 2020), it plays a role in cancer cell sensitivity to cisplatin (Schmit et al. 2019), as well as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and arthritis (Verma et al. 2019) as well as keratoglobus (Weiner et al. 2021), and it regulates the proliferation, migration, and invasion of glioma cells through nuclear factor kappa-B (Zhang et al. 2020).
