9.B.441.  The Symetrical 8 + 8 TMS Protein (S88P) Family

This S88P family consists of proteins of about 700 aas and 16 TMSs in a symmetrical arrangement of 8 + 8 TMSs, or more precisely, 2 + 6 + 2 + 6 TMSs, where the corresponding TMSs in the two halves of the protein are of similar sizes.

Examples:

TC#NameOrganismal TypeExample
9.B.441.1.1

Membrane protein of unknown function but with a distinct symmetical structure of 8 + 8 TMSs where both halves of the protein have a 2 + 6 TMS arrangement.

MP of Octopus bimaculoides

9.B.441.1.2

Uncharacterized protein of 548 aas and 7 clustered TMSs near the C-terminus.

UP of Branchiostoma belcheri (Belcher's lancelet)

9.B.441.1.3

Uncharacterized protein of 326 aas and 8 TMSs.

UP of Dendronephthya gigantea

9.B.441.1.4

Uncharacterized protein of 368 aas and 8 TMSs in a 2 + 6 TMS arrangement.

UP of Varroa destructor (honeybee mite)

9.B.441.1.5

Transmembrane protein 121B-like of 341 aas and 8 TMSs in a 2 + 6 TMS arrangement. This protein brings up member of TC family 9.B.440 with good alignments but poor scores.  These two families are possibly derived from a common ancestral protein and therefore comprise a superfamily.

TMP of Diaphorina citri (Asian citrus psyllid)

9.B.441.1.6

Cat eye syndrome critical region protein 6-like proteinof 341 aas and 8 TMSs.

CES6 of Plakobranchus ocellatus

9.B.441.1.7

Uncharacterized protein of 589 aas and 16 TMSs in an 8 + 8 TMS arrangement.

UP of Haliotis rubra (blacklip abalone)
