gap junction consists of a cluster of closely packed pairs of
transmembrane channels, the connexons, through which materials of low MW
diffuse from one cell to a neighboring cell. GAJ5 is enriched for the function of ion transmembrane transport regulation and is a key atrial fibrillation (AF)-valvular heart disease (VHD) protein (Zhao et al. 2021).
