9.B.160. The Colicin V Production (CvpA) Family
Members of the CvpA family are not well characterized. They consist of proteins of variable sizes: 150 - 170; 200 - 240; and ~400 aas with 4 or 5 TMSs. The large protein of 396 aas and an N-terminal domain of 4 TMSs (TC# 9.B.160.1.10) has this hydrophobic domain followed by a hydrophilic protease domain. Members of this family, having the 4 or 5 TMS hydrophobic domain, occur in a wide range of bacteria.
