8.A.227. The Transmembrane Protein 79 (TMEM79) Family
The TMEM79 protein in humans, Matt, is of 394 aas with a 200 aa long N-terminal domain followed by a C-terminal integral membrane domain with 5 putative TMSs. It regulates TRPV3 (TC# 1.A.4.2.9) (Lei et al. 2023) and contributes to epidermal integrity and the skin barrier function. It also plays roles in the lamellar granule (LG) secretory system and in stratum corneum (SC) epithelial cell formation. It is involvement of skin TRPV3 temperature detection regulation in mice (Lei et al. 2023).
