9.B.258. The Uncharacterized Bacterial Protein-8 (UBP8) Family
These proteins usually are less than 200 aas in length and have 5 TMSs. They are found in Actinobacteria with high frequency but also in other bacteria. They have a similar topology (a 2 + 3 TMS arrangement) to the Vauolar Iron Transporter proteins of the VIT family (TC# 2.A.89), but sequence similarity has not been demonstrated.
Uncharacterized protein of 207 aas and 5 TMSs
UP of Pseudoruegeria lutimaris

UP of Leifsonia aquatica
Uncharacterized protein of 163 aas and 5 TMSs.
UP of Blastococcus endophyticus
Uncharacterized protein of 149 aas and 4 TMSs in a 1 + 3 arrangement.

UP of Sphaerobacter thermophilus
Uncharacterized protein of 176 aas and 5 TMSs.
UP of Thiothrix disciformis
Uncharacterized protein of 176 aas and 5 TMSs in a 2 + 3 arrangement. May be related to 2.A.89.1.6 which also has 5 TMSs in a 2 + 3 arrangement (e value of e-6 with residues 1 - 167 aligning with residues 1 - 166. Thus 9.B.258 may be a member of the VIT family (TC# 2.A.89).
