Vesicular Zn2+ uptake (into synaptic vesicles) permease, ZnT3 (SLC30A subfamily). ZnT-3 regulates presynaptic Erk1/2 signaling and hippocampus-dependent memory (Sindreu et al., 2011). Cryo-EM structures of the zinc transporters ZnT3 and ZnT4 provide insights into their transport mechanisms (Ishida et al. 2024).
