2.A.53.2.10
The anion exchanger, channel and Na+-transporter, SLC26a9 (Chang et al. 2009). Differential contributions and interactions of SLC26A9 with CFTR to Cl- conductance in polarized and non-polarized epithelial cells have been demonstrated (Ousingsawat et al., 2012). Slc26a9 (-/-) mice have reduced gastric acid secretion (Chen et al., 2012). Polymorphisms in the human orthologue lead to altered activity and levels (Chen et al., 2012).  SLC26A9 is subjected to endoplasmic reticulum associated degradation (ERAD) via Hsp70-dependent targeting of the soluble STAS domain (Needham et al. 2021).  SLC26A9 modifies rapidly progressing cystic fibrosis associated with the homozygous F508del CFTR mutation (Luo et al. 2024).
