2.B.79.  The Pyridine-2,6-bis-Carboxamide Anion Transporter (PbC-AT) Family 

Advances in anion transport by synthetic supramolecular systems are discussed by Davis et al. 2020. Developments in the design of discrete molecular carriers for anions and supramolecular anion channels are reviewed followed by an overview of the use of these systems in biological systems as putative treatments for diseases such as cystic fibrosis and cancer.  Pyridine-2,6-bis-carboxamide is a synthetic anion transporter (carrier) (see the third structure below, compounds 7 and 8). Compounds 1 - 6 are carriers in TC family 2.B.78.
