Members of this family play roles in beige adipocyte formation in overweight animals (Rachid et al. 2018), and may target obesity by influencing fat oxidation and thermogenesis (Liu et al. 2019). Its gene expression is influenced by emodin (Cheng et al. 2021) and activated by flavan-3-ols (Ishii et al. 2021).
