Adipogenin (Adig) of 80 aas with one N-terminal TMS.  Up-regulation of adipogenin (Adig), an adipocyte plasma transmembrane protein of 80 aas and one N-terminal TMS during adipogenesis, has been documented (Hong et al. 2005). Characterization of Adig null mice has suggested roles for adipogenin in the regulation of fat mass accrual and leptin secretion (Alvarez-Guaita et al. 2021). The gene for ADIG (also known as the Small Adipocyte Factor 1) is highly upregulated during 3T3-L1 in vitro adipogenesis, and it is markedly enriched in adipose tissues. Its expression in 3T3-L1 adipocytes is positively regulated by insulin and glucose. (Ren et al. 2016). Adipogenin overexpression enhances fat accumulation of bovine myosatellite cells (Liu et al. 2017).

Adipogenin of 220 aas and 3 TMSs.  The N-terminal residues and one TMS are homologous to human adipogenin, and this region of the protein show appreciable sequence similarity with 1.A.127.1.2 and 1.A.127.1.3, both SARS-CoV viroporins.
