9.B.79 The Putative Metal Transporter (PmtA) Family
In Streptococcus pyogenes, the PerR-regulated pmtA gene encoding the PerR-regulated putative metal transporter, contributed to resistance against peroxide stress. pmtA may function to link metal homeostasis and oxidative stress responses (Brenot et al., 2007).
PmtR (161 aas; 4 putative TMSs) shows sequence similarity (residues 25-65 shows 43% identity with residues 44-81) with the Synechocystis Na+/H+ exchanger TC# 2.A.36.7.2). However, no homologues are found outside of S. pyogenes.
